What is it?
It is a purified protein (B. Tox) produced by bacteria.
It comes in the form of a liquid and is injected in extremely tiny doses.
What is the aim of the treatment?
The aim of treatment is to prevent and reduce wrinkle formation making you look fresher and ultimately younger. The goal would be to achieve a natural look so friends and family are unaware you have had treatment.
What does it do?
The anti wrinkle injections block the signals that would normally tell your muscles to contract leaving the overlying skin looking smooth and less wrinkled.
Wrinkles can be classified as dynamic or permanent. Dynamic wrinkles are those that only show up when we make facial movements usually when talking, reacting or concentrating. When we relax our faces, they disappear. These usually start after the teenage years and become progressively more obvious especially around the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes. It is best to get the treatment while the wrinkles are at this stage or else they WILL become permanent. These wrinkles are due to muscle contraction and Anti Wrinkle Treatment is the best product to reduce these and stop them becoming permanent. Permanent wrinkles are present regardless of facial activity and are usually found in older individuals. Anti Wrinkle Treatment can help make these less obvious but treatment is more effective in combination with “fillers”.
Treatment takes less than 10 minutes via some tiny relatively painless injections into the muscles responsible for wrinkles at these sites.
Is it the same as a “filler”?
No. Fillers are used to “fill in” permanent wrinkles/cracks in the skin and are not dependant on muscle contraction. As we all get older our face/lips loses volume and fillers are used to “fill in” these areas. They are commonly used in conjunction with Anti Wrinkle Treatment for better results.
When will I see the results of the treatment and how long will it last?
The results of treatment vary from person to person but normally start to show between 2-14 days after treatment. The effects are temporary but on average the results last for 4 months. With repeated courses the effects last longer and there is less need for repeated courses.
What are the side effects?
Anti Wrinkle Treatment is very popular worldwide and one of the safest drugs on the market. It has been used for over 20 years in the medical field in much larger doses for conditions such as facial spasms and double vision - where it is injected in the eye muscles. Therefore it has undergone years of clinical trials with great results proving it is very safe. As a result it has been granted a licence in the UK from the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) for the temporary improvement in the appearance of wrinkles.
When administered by a properly trained experienced medical practitioner side effects are very rare and all are temporary. These may include some slight redness and/or swelling at the injection site (settles within 24 hours), bruising (settles within 2-3 days), eye watering (settles within 2-3 days), eyelid droop (very rare) or allergy (as with any drug). Most people experience no side effects at all.
Is this treatment suitable for me?
The areas traditionally treated and checked for are between your eye brows (check by frowning), forehead (check by raising your eyebrows), around the eyes (check by big smile). In the past only a select, handful of people used this treatment. However, the trend has now changed as people are starting to realise that prevention of wrinkles is better than cure. As a result younger individuals (students and those in their twenties and thirties) as well as those who have to deal with the public on a face-to-face basis are now utilising the benefits of this treatment.
Book a FREE no obligation consultation with one of our Doctors/Dental Surgeons.
It is not suitable for you if you have any of the following conditions:
A known allergy to Anti Wrinkle Treatment or one of its ingredients;

What to expect at the consultation…
As you arrive for your appointment you will be asked to fill in a health questionnaire if not already done so. Our team will give you an honest and realistic opinion on whether or not they feel you may benefit from treatment. If treatment would be beneficial the procedure may be carried out during the course of this appointment (time permitting) or at a later date. As this is a non-surgical procedure, if treatment were to be carried out, you can resume your usual activities immediately after treatment. A typical consultation lasts 15 minutes.
Aftercare…
You will receive a post-injection information leaflet that should answer most of your questions. You will also receive a 24 hour contact number in case of any concerns and a review appointment will be made for 14 days time.
